Come and See – The Heartcry of Our Worship Team
The first thing that Andrew did when he heard John speak about Jesus, was to find his brother Simon Peter to tell him that he has found the Messiah. And he brought him to Jesus. John 1:40-42
When the Samaritan woman encountered Jesus at the well, she went back to town full of joy to tell everyone about her experience and that she had met the Messiah. Her message was simple, “come and see”. John 4:28-29
Phillip, like Andrew found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the book of Law”. Like the Samaritan woman at the well, the message was “come and see”. John 1:43-46
When people come to see, they encounter Jesus and they respond with worship.
As worship ministers, our role is much bigger than the strumming of guitars and playing drums or singing like angels. Our role is to help facilitate the meetings and make much of Jesus that people encounter Him, and worship gets evoked.
This cannot however be done if we ourselves have not had the encounter. One cannot take someone where they have never been. One cannot say come and see when they
themselves have not yet seen. This makes our private times as ministers very important.
There are times to go through the songs, so we know the music and there are
monumental times in our prepping that require us to be with Jesus, at His feet as we sing, read the word or in prayer for our upcoming meetings.
Then, we can say to people “come and see”.
Our Praise and Worship times need to be “come and see” moments that help people encounter Jesus the Messiah and then worship rises in the room.
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4: 23-24
