We are ordinary people transformed by extraordinary love: Jesus!

Welcome to our journey! We are Word-anchored, Holy Spirit-filled witnesses to the world. Worship is our lifestyle. We are a healthy community of believers – united in faith, enriched by our diversity, and committed to caring for one another – passionately pursuing Jesus to make Him famous in the nations.

What we believe

No one is perfect, no one is without sin—every person has fallen short and in need of God’s redemption. None of us can claim to be perfectly good, and that’s why we all need a Savior.

Jesus, also called Immanuel, God-with-us, exchanged His glorious throne for an earthly home. He was born as a baby and walked among us, fully human. He is the only God who declares that we are made in His image—the only God who chose to dwell among us. He knows hunger and pain and temptation and poverty and slander and betrayal and humiliation and rejection.

In Jesus, we find a God who truly knows our struggles. Yet, unlike us, He was without sin. He lived the perfect life we never can.

And out of His deep love for you, He took the consequence of your sin and imperfection upon Himself. He willingly chose to suffer a brutal death on the cross – crucifixion – so that your brokenness and sin does not have to remain your chains.

There is no other god who has done this for us. Whatever rituals, sacrifice and worship that is required by us to be presented as perfect and sinless before God, was fulfilled by Jesus.

Jesus performed on our behalf.

But the story didn’t end there—Jesus rose from the dead, breaking the power of sin and death forever! Because of His perfect life, His sacrifice, and His resurrection, we too can live in the freedom and victory Jesus secured for us – fully, freely, wholly!

Our faith statement

The Leadership Team

HIGHWAY CHURCH is led by a team of elders and deacons. The elders are responsible for the doctrine and direction of the church. They are called to love and pray for God’s people and to teach them His Biblical truths. Deacons are appointed to assist with the administration of a church community and their serving is to be exemplary. While their functions differ, both are dedicated to establishing a Godly kingdom culture. Friendship is key to how we serve together, and we strive to remain a united team of culture carriers!

We are all equal in Christ and we are all called to be of godly influence.

We believe in the priesthood of all believers—that every Christian is both a disciple and a disciple-maker. By His divine design, God calls some to steward His house, while others are called to lead in their homes and workplaces. Our roles may differ but each is equally valuable and important, and together, we build God’s kingdom.

Go team Jesus!

Meet the Team

George & Liezl

Lead eldership couple.

We love the local church and seeing the nations come to Christ. We serve through setting vision and raising and releasing leaders. We want to make Jesus famous, first, in our hearts and in our home to our three high school kids… to the ends of the earth! #passion #purpose #privilege

Bram & Bernie

Eldership couple.

Tumisa

Deacon.

A wife, mother and daughter who loves God and all things Jesus. Through how I live and love, I aspire to see people empowered – conquering, transforming their lives, and falling in love with Jesus. I serve the body through the Women’s ministry and Helping Hands – a ministry that facilitates restoration for those who struggle.

Zuko

Deacon.

Jesus is chasing after His children and it is a privilege to be a part of His work. Being a youth worker and a teacher, it is exciting to see the Kingdom of God expanding through education and our school, The Way Christian School.

Justin & Gen

Eldership Couple.

We believe following Jesus is an adventure! We have a heart for the nations and a passion for seeing young people come to Jesus and live out their callings and the Great Commission wherever their ‘mission field’ might be.

Dylan & Jordan

Deacons.

Mike & Linda

Eldership couple.

We love God, love His word and love His people. We desire to live lives that are wholly devoted to Him and joyfully serve in His kingdom. We have a heart for teaching and we oversee the Base Camp Kids ministry. We love adventure, hiking and a good laugh.

Donovan & Elmare

Deacons.

Devoted and helpful servants of God, overseeing the annual Encounter church camp and all our Sunday church-family events. We are ready as God nudges and directs us, for as long as He has called us, to love God’s people with our whole hearts and being.

Keith & Weza

Deacons & worship pastor.

We are passionate about worship and strive to be authentic, consistent and to provide an excellent space of worship. Our desire is for people to encounter the presence of God and for them to be encouraged in their faith journey, no matter where they are on the journey. Jesus meets us where we are.

Martin & Deanne

Eldership couple.

We love God and we love serving His people. We want to enable them to advance His kingdom through their gifting in our community, our city and in the nations.

Jaco & Liezel

Deacons.

We love Jesus, His Word, the Bible and the nations. We want to make Jesus known in our daily journey of life.

Thato

Deacon.

As a lover of the Word, there is nothing I enjoy more than showing people how liberating and extraordinary living for God is. My desire is to be used to serve His people in His Kingdom to make His love known all over the globe. In a hard and tricky world, I hope God can soften me to be a soft landing for others; to experience His love in a more tangible way.
